Nina Compton Teams Up with Fellow Top Chef Alum Doug Adams and Iron Chef America Winner Vitaly Paley to Celebrate Regional Seafood Sunday, August 9, 2015

Compère Lapin, New Orleans’ hottest new restaurant, will host a special one-night-only collaborative dinner on Sunday, August 9th, 2015.  For the restaurant’s first such dining experience since it opened earlier this year, chef/owner Nina Compton will welcome chef/owner Vitaly Paley and executive chef Doug Adams, of Imperial and Portland Penny Diner in Portland, Ore., into the Compère Lapin kitchen for a four-course dinner featuring Pacific Northwest and Gulf seafood expertly paired with Oregon Wines.

Each chef will prepare a course using seafood sourced from the waters of their home region.  Adams and Paley will work with product from the Oregon coast (sponsored by Oregon Seafood); Compton will showcase product from the Gulf. Compère Lapin’s talented pastry chef Danny Alas will handle dessert duties.

Reflective of the cuisine they serve in their award-winning Portland restaurants, Paley and Adams’ courses for the evening will highlight the Pacific Northwest’s bold flavors and diverse bounty; while Compton’s course profiles the melting pot flavors of the Gulf Coast – Southern flare with a mix of  French, Italian and Caribbean accents.

Having relocated to New Orleans from Miami after her appearance on the 11th season of BRAVO’S Top Chef, Compton opened Compère Lapin at Old 77 Hotel & Chandlery Hotel in June 2015. Thrillist recently dubbed the restaurant “One of the 10 Best New Restaurant Openings in New Orleans.”

Two-time James Beard Award semifinalist and 2005 winner for “Best Chef Pacific Northwest” as well as a Food Network Iron Chef America winner, Vitaly Paley opened Paley’s Place in 1995 and Imperial and Portland Penny Diner in 2012. Doug Adams served as Paley’s chef de cuisine before ascending to executive chef of Imperial and Portland Penny Diner in 2015. Like Compton, Adams is a Top Chef alum. He nabbed third place during the most recent season of the show set in Boston.

The four-course wine dinner, taking place on Sunday, August 9, 2015, will have two seatings at 6pm and 8pm. Seating is limited; tickets are $75/person (excluding tax and gratuity). To purchase tickets please call Compère Lapin at (504) 599-2119. A credit card must be provided to reserve tickets.
