A seasonally inspired art gallery in our lobby. Art Collection – Where Y’Art

Stroll through the corridor behind our lobby and experience an extension of the latest exhibition on display at Where Y’Art. A Royal Street Gallery in the heart of the Marigny, Where Y’Art is a true community for artists and art lovers in New Orleans.

With a history as rich in rhythm, flavor and vision as it is in adversity, trial and rebirth, New Orleans continues to defy life and art as we know it, emerging as an unfinished masterpiece in its own right – one that has been 300 years in the making. Currently on display at the hotel, Masterpeace II, curated by Christian Davenport, also known as Cubs the Poet, explores how a person – or perhaps, a city – arrives at a place of peace by transcending traditional ways of being and creating.

Typically found with his typewriter on the streets of the French Quarter, Cubs will instead use the exposed brick walls of the 1854 warehouse as a canvas for his poems, where his words will be surrounded by selected works of art that defy traditional rules, patterns and relationships to inspire new ideas, forms and interpretations of beauty and expression.
